Congratulations Sophia Salatino!
Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Sophia Salatino as November 2021 Senior of the Month
We are proud to announce Sophia Salatino as the December Senior of the Month. Since her freshman year, Sophia has immersed herself in both athletics and activities at Schaumburg High School. She has been a member of the student council all four years and has served on the Student Council Executive Board for three years, serving as president her junior and senior years. In addition, Sophia is the co-president of the National Honor Society, she is a member of the Speech Team, a Student Ambassador, and a member of both the Math and Soccer Teams. This year Sophia was nominated by teachers as a member of the Rose Arbor Court for her outstanding academic, activity, and athletic involvement and is a member of the Principal’s Advisory Board.
Sophia has taken academically challenging classes while at SHS. She demonstrates excellent time management skills in being able to manage challenging academic courses, her manager job outside of school, and involvement in multiple activities at SHS. Sophia always has a positive attitude and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in her role as Student Council President. As student council sponsor, one of my favorite memories of Sophia was then we took our members to Feed My Starving Children. Sophia demonstrated her fun-loving personality by encouraging her team as they packed meals. Her energy was contagious.
Sophia has earned many accomplishments and recognitions including being the IHSA Speech Regional Champion in 2020, an attendant on the Septemberfest Court, and Scholarship winner in 2021, the Illinois TopSoccer Volunteer of the Year in 2019, and the IHSA Scholastic Achievement Award. Additionally, she was designated as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Sophia is still deciding on her university, but she plans on attending a four-year university to study business management. Sophia is dedicated, has a strong work ethic, and goes out of her way to make others feel good about themselves. For these reasons and more, she is an excellent recipient of this award.
