We are proud to announce Leah McChristian as SHS's Senior of the Month
We are pleased to announce Leah McChristian as May Senior of the Month. Throughout her years at Schaumburg, Leah has proven herself to be a leader both inside the classroom as well as in outside activities. She has made significant contributions to the school community through her kindness and her leadership through example.
In the classroom, Leah constantly pushes herself to constantly learn both the skills and the content of the courses she takes. She takes risks in the classroom and earns the respect of her peers due to her hard work and success. Leah understands the importance of perseverance, achieving excellence through her dedication and attention to detail. She also works to extend success to others as well, striving to ensure that all find acceptance and kindness.
Outside the classroom, Leah has demonstrated considerable hard work and leadership. She has been a member and leader of the JV Cross Country team and track teams, contributing countless hours to the school and the student body. She has been recognized by her peers as a leader in Operation Snowball, and her gift for leadership rests in her ability to lead by example. Leah constantly strives to include others in our school community and to demonstrate kindness.
On a personal level, Leah lives by a strong personal code of ethics. She is quietly helpful to others, always brightening the day of students and teachers alike through her cheerful and kind demeanor. Leah faced the challenges of high school with grace and dedication, never compromising her dedication to making all around her successful. Leah plans to become a History teacher, and will
undoubtedly be as much a gift to her students as she’s been to her classmates and teachers. We are proud to announce Leah McChristian as Senior of the Month.

We are proud to announce Surag Nuthulapaty as SHS's Senior of the Month.
Surag Nuthulapaty is an excellent representation of a Schaumburg Saxon. He embodies a very strong work ethic which allows him to be successful in his classes. He models the expectations of a Saxon outside of the classroom as well by participating in various clubs and organizations. Surag is a natural leader, choosing to help others through interpersonal contact and friendship. All of these demands and sharing of his time and talents are done with a very positive attitude and friendly personality.
In the classroom, Surag has received numerous acclamations, including AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Finalist, Illinois State Scholar, and D211 Academic Scholar. How does he achieve all this success? Surag enjoys being involved in many things. He focuses on what he must do and learns as much as he can from it. Even though he earns high grades that is not his main motivation for success. He tries to challenge himself every day. His positive attitude about learning is also very valuable when the class gets tough.
Outside of the classroom, Surag participates in Math Team, Engineering Club, NHS, JSA, and Track and Field. Friends and activity sponsors are always happy when Surag is in their club. He brings a friendly outlook and a “can do” attitude to any meeting that he attends.
We are proud to have Surag Nuthulapaty as our senior of the month for April/May. He is a great example of what “We Are SHS” is all about.

We are proud to announce Olivia Semik as SHS's Senior of the Month.
Driven, involved, and enthusiastic, Olivia Semik is a leader inside and outside of the classroom.
Academically, Olivia is an exceptional student; she volunteers in class to share insights, asks questions, and contributes to discussions meaningfully. She is diligent and a great participant. Her eagerness to learn also sets her apart.
Outside of the classroom, Olivia leads in a multitude of activities and sports. Her teachers and sponsors overwhelmingly praise both her work ethic as well as her commitment. Her organization, ability to multitask, and initiative admirably combine and propel her endless energy to be involved in many activities. Mr. Swolsky commends Olivia’s work in Operation Snowball stating, “She connected in a meaningful way with her fellow leaders as well as her small group of participants. Olivia anticipated challenges and exceeded expectations.”
It is also impossible to reflect on Olivia’s time at SHS without noting the strong passion she has for helping others. The groups she chooses to be involved in are often philanthropic in nature; from student ambassadors to student council to managing sports teams, in her humble and empathetic way, she reaches out to others in order to build connections and make people feel better.
With humility, Olivia looks back and recognizes that the road to her success has involved many other people; the fact that she has taken advantage of those opportunities is a tribute to the remarkable person she is.
