Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Matthew Williams as the February Senior of the Month
Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Matthew Williams as the February Senior of the Month. Matthew has embraced the spirit of our school and, in doing so, established himself as a person of influence in the SHS community. It is quite easy to see why: Matthew exudes charismatic confidence that allows one to feel comfortable in trusting his abilities.
Matthew Williams is truly a one-of-a-kind individual. During his time at SHS, Matthew has shown evidence of his growth and development toward his vision of spending his lifetime in the service of others. During his freshman year, Matthew showed a unique dedication to understanding the matriculation process at Schaumburg High School. Matthew is driven, meticulous, and assertive in his quest for honesty and integrity in everything he does. He sets the bar high for himself and has high expectations for those around him. All the while, Matthew has developed patience and flexibility during his time at SHS. As he has become more involved in SHS clubs, activities, and the inner-workings of the school, Matthew has come to discover that his interests and skillsets extend beyond the classroom; he is very focused on serving the greater good.
Matthew has chosen to challenge himself with a very demanding curriculum at SHS, working his way into accelerated classes and pursuing the College Board Capstone Diploma. In addition to spending three of his four years in the Business program, learning elements of accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship, he has also discovered a strong tie to his musical expression. His experience with the Schaumburg HS Band and the Schaumburg Youth Concert Orchestra has allowed him to express himself in a musically relevant setting. Involvement in NHS, Business Professionals of America (2018 National Qualifier and Leadership Team Officer), Principal Advisory Board, Finance and Investing Club, and serving as a member of the school’s “iTech” Student Technology team, have helped to create a well-rounded social experience for Matthew at SHS.
Yet, at his core, Matthew thrives on serving others. His record of volunteerism and service is unmatched among his peers. The list of his dedication to service includes Easterseals, Challenger Little League Baseball, Schaumburg Library, as well as his family’s church. His passion for service and his dedication to the ideals of social justice, are a reflection of Matthew’s strong moral compass and will benefit him and many others as he pursues his career interests and life goals.
Matthew has decided that the best way to help others is through the study of accountancy. While his career has yet to be defined, he is crystal clear about his desire to find a path toward a lifetime of service to others. He has consistently found ways to challenge himself academically and learn new skills that will help him advance on the business side of whatever field he chooses. Matthew’s dogged determination and solid academic skills should serve him well at the next level and beyond.
Congratulations to Matthew Williams on the well-deserved honor of being named Schaumburg High School’s February Senior of the Month.
