Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Emma Davenport as May 2021 Senior of the Month
We are proud to announce Emma Davenport as the Schaumburg High School May Senior of the Month. Emma’s contributions in her first three years were impressive. When the pandemic hit, she increased her already impressive efforts to contribute to the safety of our community. She exemplifies the qualities we wish to build in our future leaders.
While at Schaumburg High School, Emma has been a member of the Golf Team, Student Athlete Leadership Team, Student Ambassadors, Choraliers, The International Thespian Society, IHSA Divison I Ensemble, D211 Honor Choir, Choir Board - Junior Class Representative, Principal’s Advisory Board, and Drama Club. She has been recognized for her excellent scholarship and service with induction into the National Honor Society. Even with being so involved and contributing to Schaumburg High School, Emma has found value in dedicating time to her community with service work. From 2008 to 2018 she volunteered with Back Pack Buddies Club and was a Volunteer Counselor for Joni and Friends Family Retreat in 2019.
During the pandemic, Emma showed her leadership skills and initiative by taking on the Illinois lead position for Masks Now. In this leadership position Emma coordinates volunteers across the state, works to secure donations, and tracks construction and requests. As one of her teachers said, “I am not the least bit surprised by Emma’s involvement and lead role. She strives to make the world a better place. She would never back down to hard work or a challenge for the betterment of society and to help people.” Emma is also a member of The International Students4COVID Team and a partner with Illinois Medical Professionals Action Collaborative Team (IMPACT).
On top of all of Emma’s endeavors she also an excellent student in the classroom. One of her teachers said, “Emma displays the maturity, discipline, and time management skills that allow for her to be highly successful in a multitude of areas. She is a very well-rounded student who takes on rigor with enthusiasm and confidence.”
Emma plans to attend Harper College to get her associate's degree, and then transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor's in Nonprofit Management with minors in Political Science and Liberal Arts. We are so proud of all that she has done to improve her school and local community and we are proud to announce Emma as our May Senior of the Month.
