National Honor Society

  • We strive to uphold the four pillars: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.

The National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS members must demonstrate excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character, the four pillars of the NHS. Four main purposes guide NHS chapters: “To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools” (NHS Constitution). Members of the William Fremd High School Chapter of the NHS foster these values with the help of numerous service opportunities throughout the year.

Fremd High School's NHS is a service and leadership-based organization that is actively involved throughout the year in promoting service/leadership inside and outside of the Palatine Community.  FHS NHS serves over 20 different organizations. For more information about service projects, applying, etc. explore the Navigational sidebar links for the appropriate website.

Fremd's National Honor Society membership is for Juniors and Senior students.  All students must apply for membership during their Sophomore or Junior year.  Please see the application tab for additional details.
