Alternative High School

  • Earn a District 211 Diploma!

    Classes Meet Monday – Thursday Evenings 6:00-10:00 p.m. for 16 Weeks 


    This program is designed to meet the educational needs of students whose high school education has been interrupted. Graduation requirements are similar to day school. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age. Students who enter the Alternative High School officially withdraw from their day school. Permanent records will remain on file with the Alternative High School. Preliminary registration requires the approval of the student services director if a current District 211 student. Older students and students new to District 211 may contact the director of continuing education for additional information. Appointments are required for all interested students in order to complete the registration process. Please call (847) 755-6820 with any questions.

    Fill out the registration form and choose an in-person location, time, and date for a 2 hour period beginning the week of August 10.  The first 30 students will be admitted at each location and time.  Students should bring their own writing utensils, face mask, and maintain social distancing while in the building.


    Orientation will be online. The testing of all students will be discussed at the time of registration.  You will have to sign up for an appointment in advance.  You will then come to Hoffman Estates High School at that assigned time, take the test.  COVID-19 protocol will be in place.  YOU MUST WEAR a mask to testing.    Please be aware that these testing appointments are essential for you to continue in the program.  Please be on time for your appointment.


    Alternative High School is held at Hoffman Estates High School, 1100 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates. Classes begin on August 17, 2020.  All classes for the fall semester will be remote until otherwise stated. 

    Emergency Information

    In the event that it is necessary to cancel evening classes because of inclement weather or an emergency situation, the information will be available on the District 211 website ( or via the news media. Day school cancellation DOES NOT automatically mean night school is canceled. 

    The Alternative High School is funded by the United States Department of Education, the Illinois Community College Board, the Illinois State Board of Education, and Township High School District 211.
