Eligibility/Application
This program is designed to meet the educational needs of students whose high school education has been interrupted. Graduation requirements are similar to day school. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age. Students who enter the Alternative High School officially withdraw from their day school. Permanent records will remain on file with the Alternative High School. Preliminary registration requires the approval of the student services director if a current District 211 student. Older students and students new to District 211 may contact the director of continuing education for additional information. Appointments are required for all interested students in order to complete the registration process. Please call (847) 755-6820 with any questions.
Testing
Testing MUST be completed by all students registering for semester classes, regardless if you have been in the program previously. All testing will be done at Hoffman Estates High School. The testing is a standardized reading test that the state requires of all individuals enrolled in the program. Testing usually takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Dates of testing will be listed in the registration form online. You MUST choose a date to test.
Location
Alternative High School is held in person at Hoffman Estates High School, 1100 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates.
Emergency Information
If it is necessary to cancel classes because of inclement weather or an emergency situation, we will notify the news media. Please check our website at adc.d211.org or listen to one of the local area radio stations. The announcement will be: “Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 evening classes have been cancelled.” The decision to cancel classes is made by 4:00 p.m. Day school cancellation DOES NOT automatically mean night school is cancelled.
