• Schaumburg High School is proud to recognize Austin Morales-Sanchez as the February Senior of the Month

    Austin Morales Sanchez Austin Morales-Sanchez is an outstanding role model for students throughout the Schaumburg High School community. Whether in the classroom, on the course, or in the concert hall, Austin is consistently dedicated to reaching his fullest potential. As a scholar, Austin has taken a variety of advanced coursework across several departments, experiencing significant academic success due to his sense of curiosity and love of learning. Although he rarely seeks the spotlight, Austin leads by quiet example, asking thought-provoking questions and bringing mature insights to class discussions. His French teacher, Mrs. Haskins, states, “Austin grasps every concept that I teach seemingly effortlessly but is never content to rely on his natural abilities.  He combines his inquisitive nature and hardworking dedication into one of the best French students I have ever had the pleasure of teaching.” Austin has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction, as well as an Illinois State Scholar and National Hispanic Scholar

    Austin Morales-Sanchez is also an active leader across co-curricular and extracurricular activities at Schaumburg High School. A four-year member of the SHS Band program, Austin has played in the Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble since his sophomore year. He has also been a two-year member of the District 211 Honor Band and Honors Orchestra, recognizing Austin as one of the top trombone players in the district. Austin is a member of the National Honor Society and regularly volunteers at the Willow Creek Care Center and Evangel Church Food Pantry, helping give back to the community through involvement in each of these organizations

    Austin Morales-Sanchez has additionally found great success through his involvement in athletics at Schaumburg High School. Austin has been a three-season varsity athlete on the cross country, swimming, and track teams, serving as a member of the Student Athletic Leadership Team for the past three years. He has earned distinctions particularly as a member of the cross-country team, including running the fastest time ever recorded on the Hoffman Estates course. Austin’s coach, Mr. Lilley, notes that Austin simply represents what hard work and dedication look like, as he always puts forth his best effort in everything he does. Austin reflects that his time on the cross-country team has been an incredibly positive experience, particularly with the bonds he has formed with his teammates each season. Austin feels that he has learned many lessons from his peers, including the importance of always pushing yourself forward.

    When asked about his motivation to succeed, Austin remarks, “I really love learning; that’s not to say I love everything I learn, but the thought that I am engaging in activities and materials that help me become a more well-rounded, better person always motivates me to keep going.” After high school, Austin plans to study biology and go into biological research. We look forward to following Austin’s success at the collegiate level and beyond.
