Inspection of the iPad’s physical status will be done at the time of return. For devices covered under District 211’s iPad Protection Plan, Repair/replacement costs will be limited to program deductibles. If there is damage to the iPad, you will need to see Mr. Kase in the technology department to arrange a repair.
If you would still like to purchase the iPad, you can do so through Myschoolbucks. Information about MySchoolBucks account can be found on the District 211 website at https://adc.d211.org/Page/7743.
Please back up any data that you would like to keep as it will be wiped once collected.
Although you will have access to your accounts until the end of August this year, please transfer any files that you would like to keep to your personal storage account ASAP.
What happens when the iPad is purchased?
- Upon receipt of payment, all District-owned apps (Notability, Procreate, etc.) and licenses will be staged for return to District ownership.
- District-owned apps and licenses will be removed from the iPad on May 22, 2023.
- Once District-owned apps and licenses have been removed, District 211 relinquishes all responsibility for the purchased iPad and its accessories. Additionally, coverage under D211’s iPad Protection Plan and technological support for the device end.
- To prepare for the purchase, it is recommended that students back up the iPad and data to a personal Google Drive or another personal online storage service.
- Back up any files or photos you want to keep.
- First, you need to back up any data you’d like to keep. Here are directions on how to:
- Back up Notability files to Google (this should already be set, but double-check it anyway).
- Back up photos or videos to Google. You can save them to a personal Google account, or you can save them to your school account which will then need to be moved again later this summer to your personal account.
- First, you need to back up any data you’d like to keep. Here are directions on how to:
- Back up any files or photos you want to keep.
- To be released from the school management system, the iPad will need to be erased and reset to the factory setting.
- Resetting your iPad will remove everything! When you are done, you will set it up as a brand-new iPad. Do NOT restore an old backup because you will bring device management right back onto your iPad. Now that you know that here are the directions for resetting your iPad.
- When it’s finished, you can sign into your iPad with your personal Apple ID. Set it up as a new iPad – do not restore from a backup! If at any time you get a message related to management software or it says “Township High School District 211 would like to configure…” then the device management app is somehow still on your iPad and needs to be removed. Give the school tech department a call at 847-755-3761 to help you remove it.

Students will have access to their school-provided email account, Google Drive account, and school-server storage drive until August 31, 2023.
