• Hello!

I’m Lisa Small, Superintendent of High School District 211.

I want to take a moment to share some exciting updates.

First, I’m here today at Schaumburg High School, and am pleased to officially welcome Tom Mocon as the new principal. Tom started as a District 211 teacher in 2007. Since then, he has worked in three of our high schools as a lead disciplinarian, dean and assistant principal. He brings a commitment to student success, a knack for innovation and a clear vision for the future.

We are confident his leadership will make a positive impact on our Saxons.

Second, as many of you know, I will retire in June.

I am so grateful for my 33 years here … especially the time teaching and coaching students and working with all who make District 211 such an outstanding place to educate and to learn.

I am excited that  Dr. Judith Campbell has been appointed as my successor beginning this summer. Dr. Campbell has a strong background in education and a passion for helping every student succeed.

She currently is the Deputy Superintendent in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools.

Dr. Campbell has already visited our schools; met with administrators, teachers and staff; and talked with community members, partners and others in our learning community.

Over the next few months, we will work together to ensure a smooth transition. I am confident she will continue the work we’ve started and bring new ideas to move us forward together.

Finally, as we move into spring, we will host two college and career readiness events that help our students plan their next steps. On March 6, we’ll host College Night at Palatine High School. This allows our students and parents to talk with colleges and universities from across the country. On April 24, we’ll host our Senior Job Fair here at Schaumburg High School. This event features nearly 100 employers who are hiring now for current senior students who are ready to enter the workforce as full time employees.

We also have many outstanding events where you can see our students in action.

A more complete listing of events is below, under “Important Dates.”

Every year, we expand our opportunities for students to explore career pathways, earn college credit and obtain real-world experiences. I encourage you to talk with your school counselor or career advisor at your school  to take advantage of the resources we have to help students reach their full potential.

This is a season of growth and change. I look forward to what lies ahead for our students and for District 211. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our schools.
