District 211 Presidential Scholars
-
The United States Presidential Scholar Program was established in 1964 in order to recognize some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the country’s highest honors for high school students. Each scholar chosen has demonstrated leadership, scholarship, contribution to school and community; exceptional talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts; or ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields.
William Fremd High School student Maegan Jong (left) has been selected as a 2019 Presidential Scholar, and senior Kristina Chen (right) has been selected as a 2019 Presidential Scholar Semifinalist by the President’s Special Commission. Both graduates were honored by the Board of Education at its May 23, 2019 meeting.
