Small Group Meetings

  • Counselor Small Group Meetings

    All students have a College and Career Readiness Schoology course created by their school counselor. Lessons and resources from each small group meeting are housed there. Students and parents can access specific information by logging into Schoology. An overview of those small group meetings is listed below.

    Freshman Year

    Meeting 1: (August) Learning Objective: Understand the high school transcript and how GPA and SAT score relate to the college admission process.

    Meeting 2: (October) Learning Objective: Understand the Signs of Suicide and know how to access related supports in our building and community.

    Meeting 3: (November) Learning Objective: Identify career clusters associated with a student's interests and abilities.

    Sophomore Year

    Meeting 1: (October) Learning Objective: Understand how career clusters relate to career choices and identify college majors associated with specific careers.

    Meeting 2: (January) Learning Objective: Identify universities that have specific majors or programs that are related to each students career direction.

    Junior Year

    Meeting 1: (October) Learning Objective: Confirm career direction and college major choices. Identify colleges to which I intend to apply that fall into the categories of "Reach", "Target", and "Financial Safety".

    Meeting 2: (March) Learning Objective: Research application deadlines and create a summer checklist of activities that will help me prepare for applications.

    Senior Year

    Meeting 1: (August) Learning Objective: Manage the logistics behind the college application process in order to begin completing applications.

    Individual Meetings: (September) Learning Objective: Complete college applications to universities that fall into the categories of "Reach", "Target", and "Financial Safety".
