12 Session After School SAT Prep Program

Junior year is a critical time for students as they prepare for specific college and career pathways after graduating from District 211. As part of that preparation, and in order to meet graduation requirements in the State of Illinois, each high school junior participates in the SAT exam. The SAT exam focuses on reading, writing and language, and math skills that students have learned through participation in their coursework in District 211. While one of the most effective ways for students to prepare for the SAT test is to attend class every day and to engage in their coursework, District 211 schools also offer additional options to prepare for the SAT exam. Details of those options are provided below.

  • College Board & Khan Academy

    College Board
Research on test preparation recommends that students take at least one full-length practice exam prior to taking the actual SAT. Traditionally, District 211 schools host in-person practice exams in the fall and spring; however, safety guidelines and mitigations have prevented large student gatherings. Full-length practice exams are available through Khan Academy (described below) and through the College Board’s SAT website: SAT Practice Tests.

    Khan Academy

All District 211 junior students have access to full-length practice SAT tests, individualized video tutorials, interactive exercises, and diagnostic assessments through a Khan Academy account. Students can access their Khan Academy account at any time of the day or night using any device that is connected to the Internet. It is highly recommended that students utilize this personalized preparation option, which includes eight full-length practice exams, thousands of additional practice questions with answer and explanations, videos, lessons, and general test-taking tips and strategies, over the next month as they prepare for the upcoming State-sponsored SAT exam in April. More information regarding State-sponsored SAT dates and times will be provided to students and parents in the coming weeks. Students who do not currently have a Khan Academy account can sign up here: Khan Academic account sign-up.
