NET was created in efforts to support young adults with disabilities build their skills in the areas of Daily Living Skills, Post-Secondary Planning, Job Readiness, Accessing the Community, and Recreation and Leisure. New Endeavors Transition (NET) is housed at the Township High School District Higgins Education Center. NET is for students 18+ whose day is made up of half-day supported work training and half-day community and independent living skill-based education. Students have access to the District 211 Community Work Experience Sites to gain necessary work skills for the goal of obtaining competitive employment. The program is supported by a psychologist who provides both individual and group counseling to address students’ social-emotional and social problem-solving needs. The program is also supported by a speech and language therapist who facilitates various groups focused on connecting Social Thinking concepts to academic and transition content.
