Spotlight Story - Illinois Theatre Association All-State

Every year, the Illinois Theatre Association organizes the Illinois High School Theatre Festival, the largest state high school Festival in the country. Students who attend are able to see high schools from across the state perform their shows, audition for colleges and universities from across the country, and attend workshops for theatrical training in all areas of the Performing Arts. This year is the 50th year of the Festival.
One of the most exciting elements of the Festival each year is an All-State production, which will be performed this January at the Illinois State University Braden Auditorium. The production is like an All-State athletic team – we hold competitive auditions and have the opportunity to accept the most talented students from across the state. District 211’s region (Region 2) is the most competitive region in the entire state. Students who are involved in the All-State Production in the past have called it a life-changing experience.
This year, the All-State show is Disney’s Newsies, and we have the amazing and unprecedented honor of having multiple students from D211 not just involved in the show, but in lead roles and positions in each of the three areas of performance.
