Active Student Citizenship

 

Our democracy and the demands of being a contributing family member or employee call upon individuals to take an active, participatory role.  The fifth domain of the instructional vision and direction is to actively develop skills within students to demonstrate active student citizenship.  This applies both to electronic and digital settings, and to the physical, material communities of District schools and employment settings.  When articulated, the components comprising the active student citizenship domain include the following:

  • Communicating and developing shared expectations for students surrounding digital citizenship
  • Drawing upon students to lead pro-social examples of positive citizenship
  • Involving students in their own learning plans and helping students to be aware of their academic progress toward the critical learning standards
