Student Accident Insurance

The District will provide student accident insurance at no cost to families for all enrolled students.

This insurance is designed to help with medical expenses if a student is injured during a school-sponsored and school-supervised activity, including participation in IHSA/interscholastic athletics.

Please note the following important information:

  • Coverage applies only to accidental injuries that occur during approved school-sponsored and supervised activities.
  • This insurance is secondary (excess) coverage. If your family has other medical insurance, that insurance must be used first. The student accident insurance may help cover eligible expenses that remain after your primary insurance has processed the claim, subject to the terms of the policy.
  • Medical treatment for a covered injury must begin within 90 days of the date of the accident.
  • Eligible medical expenses must be incurred within 104 weeks (2 years) of the accident.
  • Benefits are paid according to the insurance company's usual and customary allowance for medical services in the area where treatment is provided.

The above summary is provided for general information only. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the insurance policy. Questions about accident insurance coverage may be directed to Director of Insurance and Group Benefits Jessica Romero at jromero@d211.org or the insurance provider at 800-445-3126.
