This course is designed to prepare students to become true entrepreneurs in a problem-based learning environment. Students will have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Real-world entrepreneurs and business experts serve as coaches, mentors and board of investors guiding student teams through the process of ideation, market research and business plan development using the business model canvas approach. Throughout the course, students will develop project management, problem-solving, presentation, networking, collaboration, teamwork, leadership and analytical skills. Mid-year, students will gain in-market experience with “Viable Product” research and presentations made possible by small grants to student teams. The course culminates with team pitches at the building- and District-level to investor panels with the possibility to win funding to turn their business ideas into reality.
