Jane Russell was elected to the District 211 Board of Education in 2025. Ms. Russell is a retired educator, having taught high school science for 34 years in Leyden District 212. She has served on multiple education committees through the Illinois State Board of Education, and remains a member of the P-20 Council through the Office of the Governor. Her experience saw her lead the way through multiple high-profile educational initiatives and projects, including the No Child Left Behind Act, Illinois State Teacher Learning Standards, coaching and mentoring, accreditation and testing. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University, with additional coursework through Roosevelt University, Northeastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. She lives in Rolling Meadows.
