George Rivera

Sergeant George Rivera, a 2007 James B. Conant High School graduate, is currently serving in the Marines. He has been invited to this evening’s meeting to honor him for his service to our nation, and recognize him as a Conant High School graduate. Sergeant Rivera will lead those in attendance at the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.

James B. Conant High School student Sruthi Gurudev’s poetry anthology earned a Gold Key Award, the highest recognition level, in the 2015 National Scholastic Writing Competition. Sruthi will be recognized at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June for her work. She has been invited to receive Board of Education recognition this evening

Palatine High School Principal Gary Steiger has been named 2015-2016 High School Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principals Association. Each year, this organization recognizes school principals who have demonstrated a positive impact on their students and learning community. Mr. Steiger has been invited this evening to receive Board of Education recognition for this outstanding honor

 BOOSTER CLUB PRESIDENTS  – At tonight’s meeting, booster club presidents will be recognized for their service, as well as their organization’s service, to District 211 schools during the 2014-2015 school year. Board of Education Vice President Mucia Burke will assist with the recognition. HIGHEST POSSIBLE COMPOSITE ACT SCORE

 HIGHEST POSSIBLE COMPOSITE ACT SCORE Palatine High School student Bryan Lu, and William Fremd High School students Daniel Classon, Kellie Halloran, Cameron Harro, Jiamin Huang, Abigail Iuorio, Soumyaa Mazumder, and Jennie Yang, each achieved a 36 on the American College Test (ACT) examination, the highest possible composite score, and have been invited to receive Board of Education recognition for this outstanding achievement. The ACT, which is taken by nearly 60 percent of America’s college-bound students, is comprised of tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. Each test is scored on scale of 1-36, and a student’s score is the average of the four test scores. On average, less than percent of all ACT test takers earns a top score.
