The High School District 211 ESL Summer Academy is a six-week summer program designed to improve your child’s English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students identified for this program are those who are at risk of not achieving proficiency in the Illinois State Standards for the English language. If needed, your child will spend three of the six weeks also improving his or her mathematics skills.
There is no cost for the class or transportation.
Incoming freshmen and freshmen students are required to attend six weeks. Sophomores and juniors are invited to attend the six weeks.
Students will earn one elective credit toward graduation if they successfully complete the entire six weeks of summer school.
Summer school registration beings in May. If you have questions concerning your child’s placement in summer school, please call your child’s counselor or the ESL Department Chair at the school your child attends.
