Afternoon Academic Support
As part of the Remote and Hybrid learning environment, Hoffman Estates High School has afternoons designated during the school week for student acadmic support. The afternoon sessions, scheduled from 1:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Monday - Thursday, are provided to offer students the ability to access unique learning opportunities that the current ISBE restrictions may limit or prevent during their morning class time. Each District 211 academic department has developed learning experiences that support their curriculum. These experiences are scheduled through Sign-up Genius to ensure that social distancing and safety guidelines are followed. Some afternoon options are more general in nature, including math tutoring labs, reading and writing support or quiet study areas, while others are specific to courses that students are enrolled in. These specific offerings, which include the ability to complete experiments in science labs or access to manufacturing equipment, are only available for students enrolled in the courses that include the specialized content.
In order to access the afternoon academic support opportunities, students will need to sign-up for a time slot.
There are limitations as to how many students can be present in each area due to social distancing, therefore students are encouraged to sign-up as early as possible for their preferred opportunity. Students can access District 211 transportation to the school building through a mid-day bus route that will run Monday through Thursday. An afternoon bus schedule is in place to return students back to the designated bus stop nearest to their homes. Students who attend in-person will be expected to stay fr the entirety of their time slot (45 minutes or 90 minutes).
Daily Wellness Screening Survey - Afternoon Academics Support Options
Each student attending an in-person afternoon academic support session must complete the online daily wellness screening survey, at home each day. The wellness screening survey must be completed prior to traveling to school using a school-issued iPad or personal mobile device. Students will need to display the the current day's wellness screening survey result to school staff prior to entering the school building. Technology Services at Hoffman Estates High School
The Technology Office is available for students and staff to assist with iPad support, computer accounts, student email, student portal use, device usage and other technology issues. Technology Office hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Summer hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.).
